My Last Stop of My Roadtrip across Sarawak! Limbang!

Continue from  Sarawak Trip: Part 1 | 2 | 3 | Ghost In Bintulu |3.5 | 4.0 | Brunei

Bid Brunei farewell and we are now at the Limbang!!! \(@ ̄∇ ̄@)/

except this, I actually have not much knowledge about this land.

I heard that it is a strategic location for business as they get many Brunei tourists came to this town to buy vegetables, fruits and groceries over the weekend.

There’s only one shopping complex in this town which happens to have a hotel above it and that’s where I stayed..

So yeah, no paranormal activities that night. ^^”

As we will be leaving the town around noon the next day, I woke up super early to catch a glimpse of the place before we left.

Limbang division has two towns, Limbang Town and Lawas town which located on the other side of Limbang after Brunei and next to Sabah.

The hotel + shopping complex.

The shopping complex cater the needs of the 40,000 people who stayed in this town. The businesses here are doing great since there are no other competitors. Open a bubble tea stall/shop, confirm you will be counting your money until you forgot what is frown. ( ★ω★)

Tua Pek Kong temple. There’s one in every single towns and cities I covered in this Sarawak Roadtrip series.

The trapped mist on the hills makes me feel as if I’m on the highland near the clouds.

You can get to Labuan with this express boat which only costs you RM24 per round trip.

Found these freshly made and bbq fishcakes in the wet markets.

Only RM1 per stick, so cheap can die.  (๑>ᴗ<๑)

Here’s the old part of the town.

Old shops *imaging turning them into hipster cafes* ( ´ ▽ ` )

Woohooo a Tamu Pagi (morning market) !!  (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))

I love local market!! Sometimes when I go to a market like this feels like as if I’m going for a treasure hunt and I never know what interesting stuffs are waiting there to surprise me.

And just a 2 minutes walk, I saw this…

FUUUUAHHHHHH SUPER BIG CLAMSS!! ⊙0⊙

The clams are as big as the lady’s fist!!!

WAHH  some almost the size of the coconut!!

Too bad I don’t eat clams. ( ̄ω ̄)

WHAT IS THIS DURIAN RED????

DI THEY SHOWERED IT WITH BLOOD?? (⊙﹏⊙)

(imagination)

Have anyone tried this kind of durian before?

I didn’t buy it as i don’t feel like having durian that time. Now, I kinda regret. T^T

I shall called it Blood Durian! coz I want and it sounds cooler. LOL #sukahatisaja

I bought this tho! This is called Tahai!!

A type of dried smoked fish. And it tasted awesome!!!! O(≧∇≦)O

If you like fish and you like smokey taste!

Then mix it with sambal and rice and you have Nasi Tahai!!

BRINGING NASI LEMAK TO ANOTHER LEVEL!! NASI LEMAK TAPAI!!!

My first and last meal in Limbang. ( ̄~ ̄)

————————-

On our way out of Limbang, we dropped by a Museum / Fort Limbang.

Rajah Brooke, the Rajah of Sarawak Kingdom build fort in all major town back in the old days to protect the people from Pirates. This fort was build in the year 1887.

It looks more like a banglo than a fort ( ̄ー ̄)

Now it is a Museum document the history and people of Limbang.

Well, I shall see you again in future, Limbang, the town of Buffaloes.

Hopefully, I can revisit all the town and cities of Sarawak again but as a tourist instead of a passerby.

Well, that ends my Sarawak Roadtrip. Now to go home..

WAHHH REALLY MAD!! ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ

It takes 12-14 hours to travel from Miri to Kuching depending on how fast you drive.

The journey is not only long but dangerous as well..

Seriously!! There were many close calls!!!  (╬⁽⁽ ⁰ ⁾⁾ Д ⁽⁽ ⁰ ⁾⁾)

That’s the end of my Sarawak Roadtrip Series. Hope you enjoyed.

Sarawak Roadtrip 4.0: Miri! Why you demolish all your buildings?

Continue from  Sarawak Trip: Part 1 | 2 | 3 | Ghost In Bintulu |3.5 | 4.0

The journey from Bintulu to Miri is about  2 hours plus.

How was the journey?

Well it was..

super bumpy!!! and there were times where i fell asleep and cracked my neck!!

Pain i tell you! #luckymynecknoputus

This is how the view was…

empty. 🙁 I think they are clearing the sites for palm tree plantation.

Seriously it was flat and so far into the horizon.

A sign that Miri is near is when you sees the sea. Miri is a city by the sea.

Another way to know whether you are near a city or town in Sarawak is when…

Seahorse, symbol of Miri!! Why seahorse? Miri is the oil city, hmm i have no idea why.

Probably maybe because Miri City is the closest to the sea and seahorse is easy to be found? #Miaosimplytheory

Another way to know you’re in Miri is when you see..

when you drive up from Bintulu. Coming from Kuching, I’m used to big houses but the ones in Miri is a bit over.  =.=

We’re meeting the City mayor and some Datos here at the Miri’s Resident’s office but as usual, VVIP gonna be late, so I walked around the area and have a glimpse of Miri old town.

Looks new eh? I found out the city council refurbish all the old buildings around the area.

Although they tried and refurbished into an old school design but something is off.

If not mistaken, this was how it looked like in the old days.

It feels different, something is gone.

Further down the street, I saw this…

Brooke street. This could be one of the old street in Miri too.

I saw them in the midst of removing the building part by part. OAO

It’s kinda sad to see old buildings getting removed.

Although it’s not colonial or Brooke era design but still it’s an old school looking design from the 60s or 50s?

While other countries blend new and old together, our gov try to remove them. =.= We can always give it a modern touch like covers, glasses, air con etc while retain the look and feel kan?

Sigh…

oh they retain the old market!!

oh i was wrong…

If not wrong, this new market will replaced this old market.

So basically, this is the Miri, they want it to turned into…

Not that it’s bad but I don’t see the problem of new and old co-exist together. Without the old streets, Miri City itself is kinda boring imo 🙁 I was bored.

Basically, it’s like a gateway to Mulu and Niah cave. Like drop by, stock up and off to the rain forest.

Then again.. its blue sky is gorgeous…

so does its sunset. <3

and also its people.. <3 <3

When I reached hotel, I found out a reader from Miri dropped me a hand made plush of Wafu at the hotel reception counter.

thank you sooo much for the plush!! Mirian rocks!!!

Next stop, Brunei and Limbang!!! > v <
